Here is a photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #296, a D-16A (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during December of 1874, sold to the New York Equipment Company in May of 1894, and later acquired by the Rockaway Valley Railway and renumbered "5." Here is the ninth of 36 plates constituting the "Centennial Album of Pennsylvania R.R. Photos and Prints." It was published originally in the April 1946 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 19. Photo Caption: "Spruce Creek Tunnel. When the Pennsylvania Railroad came, it left the route of the State Canal at Petersburg, to follow the windings of the Little Juniata to a new frontal assault on the divide. Museum Bound. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here are PRR engines #2250, #2305, and three other units whose numbers are not visible. #2250 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 anX rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2305 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling a 128-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with N-8 caboose #478125. Wave to the engineer! As of 04 July 2016, or 51 years later, #2250 ~ now numbered "2198" ~ is in active excursion service with the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

CR C30-7 6604 leads SD40-2 6485, and an unidentified unit, through the small PA town of Spruce Creek on the former PRR main line in November, 1980. Conrail senior management requested a series of tests be performed between the C30-7 and SD40-2 to determine the efficiency of the C30-7. CR 6604 was one of the test candidates as identified with a sizeable white star located below the cab road number as well as 'TEST UNIT' under the model designation.
