In 1942, the Frisco West Springfield shops rebuilt SLSF 2-10-2 #45 which was originally built in April fo 1918 into SLSF 4-8-2 #4419. This massive coal burner was just what the Frisco needed in high speed power. It lasted in service until being sold for scrap in April of 1952 along with many of its sister rebuilds when diesels took center stage. .Specs - serial #48294, 70" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 449,760 lb, tractive effort of 68,600 lb.
